FCC Licensing

Frequency Coordination

The FCC Mandated Frequency Coordination process for Microwave Systems begins with interference analysis and frequency selection. As the number of microwave users continues to increase, selecting frequencies has become more complex. Our interference study programs consider industry guidelines, antenna characteristics, terrain loss, radio characteristics, etc. Our degreed engineers are skilled in alternatives that are available, and they will work closely with the client to determine the best result. We find channels where others cannot.

FCC rules governing the coordination process can be found in

CFR Title 47, Part 101.103(d).

Once we find available frequencies, we notify other nearby microwave users through the Prior Coordination Notice (PCN) process. After obtaining clearance we can file the client’s application directly with the FCC, or we can provide the appropriate documentation to assist the client in filing their own applications.

FAA Studies & FCC Tower Registration

Any tower within 20,000 feet of a public or military airport or heliport may need to be approved by the FAA. Click here to find out if your structure needs to be registered. In addition, all towers more than 200 feet above ground must be approved by the FAA. Towers requiring an FAA study must be registered with the FCC.
